Position Title:                Student Internship – Product Development

Location:                      Lactalis Canada Research and Development, Ingleside, Ontario

Term:                           Jan to Dec 2024 (12 months internship)

Lactalis Canada is a major food processing company, focused on dairy products. With annual sales of over $2 billion, Lactalis Canada employs over 3,300 people and operates 20 manufacturing facilities in Canada. Lactalis Canada operates one of the largest food research centres in Canada and is responsible for new product development and technical support for Lactalis Canada.

The incumbent will be a member of the R&D Team, based in Toronto, Ontario. Provide technical and analytical support to the R&D product development team members.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

With Supervision

1. Support in the execution of required laboratory and/or production experiments in the development of new products and/or product renovations and, conducting experiments and support sampling plan.
2. Conduct bench-top experiments and/or analysis to support processing and formula commissioning at full-scale manufacturing, which includes scale-up of prototypes and subsequent trials to support introduction of new products and /or product renovations.
3. Prepare and document raw ingredients and formulations specifications for the purpose of maintaining accurate records and to ensure compliance with Company standards.
4. Responsible to ensure Quality is fundamental in execution of all work activities

Key Attributes of the Ideal Candidate

• Strong knowledge in the discipline of food science and/or chemistry, microbiology, engineering
• Strong written/oral interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external sources
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to effectively handle multiple projects and the assignments of priorities within the defined project area
• Creative problem solving and analytical skills
